One month ago Jeremy Saulnier’s third theatrical film Green Room debuted in the US. Later this week we’ll post our review of that movie, which was the Movie of the Month for April, but in the meantime let’s look at Saulnier’s first two films. Blue Ruin won the FIPRESCI prize at the Cannes Film Festival’s Director’s fortnight. Back in our first Flashback Awards, Blue Ruin was at the top of the list of best movies I’d missed that year. Murder Party was released at Slamdance in 2007 where it won the Audience Award for Best Feature.
Teddy Cleland: That’s how this works, man. The one with the gun gets to tell the truth.
“The invitation said “Murder Party.” If some jackass is dumb enough to come here then he deserves to die.”
