Flashforward: August’s Most Anticipated Films

AUGUST’S 2015’s MOST DISAPPOINTING FILM:

Fantastic Four

Release date: August 7, 2015

Director: Josh Trank

Starring: Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell, Toby Kebbell, Reg E. Cathey, Tim Blake Nelson

By far the most disappointing movie I’ve seen in years. Read the full Flashback/Backslide Review here.

AUGUST’S MOST ANTICIPATED FILMS:

The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

Release date: August 14, 2015

Director: Guy Ritchie

Starring: Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer, Alicia Vikander, Elizabeth Debicki, Jared Harris, Hugh Grant.

We Are Your Friends

Release date: August 28, 2015

Director: Max Joseph

Starring: Zac Efron, Emily Ratajkowski, Shiloh Fernandez, Alex Shaffer, Jonny Weston, Wes Bentley

Things could go either way here. Best case scenario: a fun summer music movie. Worst case: A voice-over laden morality tale spliced with Workaholics scenes.

AUGUST’S LEAST ANTICIPATED FILMS:

The Runner

Release date: August 7, 2015

Director: Austin Stark

Starring: Nicolas Cage, Connie Nielsen, Peter Fonda, Sarah Paulson, Wendell Pierce

The tone of the trailer above is less consistent than Cage’s accent will be in the movie.

Hitman: Agent 47

Release date: August 21, 2015

Director: Aleksander Bach

Starring: Rupert Friend, Hannah Ware, Zachary Quinto, Ciarán Hinds, Thomas Kretschmann, Angelababy.

Every line in the trailer is lifted from other better action movies, including Rorschach’s “You’re locked in here with me” line from The Watchmen.
