Co-winner of the 4th AACTA Award (The Australian equivalent to the Oscars and BAFTAs), The Water Diviner is Crowe’s directorial debut. It shared the AACTA award with The Babadook.

Starring: James Franco, Jonah Hill, Felicity Jones, Gretchen Mol

Notes: Originally released at 2015’s Sundance Film Festival.

Furious 7

Release date: April 10, 2015

Director: James Wan

Starring: Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Lucas Black, Jason Statham.

Notes: Featuring the final performance by Paul Walker. This is a franchise whose films I never watch but they never irritate me. They fact that they have maintained a strong base with very similar plotlines earns some degree of praise.

Notes: Garland makes his directorial debut after writing several novels (The Beach, The Tesseract, The Coma) and screenplays (28 Days Later, Dredd)

Director: Simon Curtis

Starring: Helen Mirren, Ryan Reynolds, Daniel Brühl, Katie Holmes, Tatiana Maslany, Max Irons, Charles Dance, Elizabeth McGovern, Jonathan Pryce.



Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2

Release date: April 17, 2015

Director: Andy Fickman

Starring: Kevin James, Molly Shannon, Neal McDonough, Daniella Alonso, David Henrie, Raini Rodriguez, Loni Love, Geovanni Gopradi

Notes: After the first “uninspired” film performed well at the box office despite poor reviews, it should be no surprise that a sequel is rolling into theaters this month.
