Flashforward: 2015’s Most Anticipated Films

2015 FFAfter a busy 2014 packed with new franchises and amazing performances, 2015 promises to be one of the best years in movies in recent memory. Especially if you love comic books and the apocalypse. With a long list of reboots and sequels many fans have already made emotional investments as they await the next meeting with their heroes including Iron Man, Captain America, Mr. Fantastic, The Human Torch, John Connor, James Bond, Ethan Hunt, Dominic Toretto, Katniss Everdeen, Kevin the Minion and knights from a galaxy far, far away. Big name directors like Joss Whedon, Quentin Tarantino, Guillermo del Toro, Terrence Malick, Neill Blomkamp, JJ Abrams and Ron Howard accompany an even longer list of actors and actresses with new releases.

Instead of posting the most anticipated movies from January alone, this Flashforward will showcase some of the many films coming out this year and will save the usual commentary for the monthly Flashforwards. Let’s start with a look at Flashback/Backslide’s 10 Most Anticipated films of the year followed by a fuller list. As usual, this list likely excludes films that will go on to win major awards since those dramas tend not to get the level of early publicity that the expensive blockbusters enjoy. A major exception to that rule is Still Alice which will get its US release this month and is part of the 2015 Oscar cycle. All movie details are up to date to the best of my knowledge.

1 Star Wars VII 2. Avengers 2
