Flashback/Backslide Marvel Blogathon!

Marvel FBBSATTENTION READERS OF THIS POST!

It is I, Flashback/Backslide and I come to you from the future. Well really, what would be the future for when this post was written, and is actually probably in the past compared to when you are reading this note. It gets confusing from here but I’m in the tessaract and all I wanted to say is that gravity is the only force that transcends time and space. Or maybe it’s love. Not important. What is important is that this post has an update which you can find in this INTERNET WORMHOLE. Just click that word WORMHOLE (not this second wormhole but that first one in the sentence in the past) to find any updates on this post which is most definitely in the past for everyone, regardless of their position on the event horizon. In the update you can find updates including updated lists of films that have been claimed and format changes.

READERS, I LOVE YOU, FOREVER … unless I’m moving things too fast…in which case I offer you a firm handshake and maybe a bro-hug.

SINCERELY,

Damien from FLASHBACK/BACKSLIDE

Next month Flashback/Backslide will celebrate its one-year anniversary! As part of the festivities, the site will host its very first blogathon. Taking the lead from the many blogathons I have read over the last year (including those by The Sporadic Chronicles of a Beginner Blogger, Movierob, and Cinema Parrot Disco) I’m aiming big with an all-Marvel blogathon including all of the films based on Marvel characters. With superhero films dominating the box-office (and many film blogs) it only seemed right for my first blogathon to showcase the franchise that is largely responsible for this shift.

I’ve included the list of films below. The list includes all Marvel titles, not just those in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I chose Blade as the starting point (leaving out older versions of familiar heroes).  I also left off straight-to-video/TV releases (there are plenty of animated Avengers titles floating around Netflix. Too many to include).

I’m going to need a lot of help to review all the films on the list so please email me or comment below if you would like to claim a movie! I don’t mind if more than one person reviews the same movie (it would be nice to hear differing opinions). Many of the movies below have already been reviewed on other sites (including a full X-Men Blogathon on The Sporadic Chronicles of a Beginner Blogger). If you want to reuse a review that’s also kosher, but please add a short bit at the end of the review updating it or talking about the place of the film among the other Marvel flicks (I plan to update my Thor: The Dark World review given all the new things we’ve learned about the Marvel Cinematic Universe since its release). Also, if you want to include a Marvel-themed post that is not a film review, please feel free. I’d love to have character biographies and franchise descriptions from the more comic-centered blogs (shout out to Outright Geekery and Reel Freak).

I will start posting the reviews on January 1, 2015. Please email me reviews to flashbackbackslide@gmail.com by December 26th so I can get everything organized. The schedule itself will change based on how many responses I receive. I’ll update this list when films are claimed.

ALSO CHECK THE UPDATED POST FOR UPDATED INFORMATION! GRACIAS!

  1. You can never go wrong with a Marvel Blogathon! 😀 I will review the 2004 Punisher.

What kind of ideas did you have for non-movie reviews? As an avid Marvel comics reader myself I can contribute that way too if you have something in mind.

    • That would be great! Thanks for joining.

I was using the non-movie reviews as a catch-all for anything Marvel-related that people wanted to post but didn’t quite have a place to fit it elsewhere. Like a character biography of the Punisher or a listing of the “must-read” Punisher issues (or other characters). I have started reading comics myself over the last few years but often have a hard time knowing where to start with certain characters/stories.

      • No problem!

If I have the time, I think I would like to write up something about my favorite hero: Spider-Man. I have a few ideas about what I may want to write, particularly about the current run written by Dan Slott. If I do get something together I’ll send it your way..

  2. Thanks for the linkage 🙂

I would love to participate in this! I am going to pick some fresh films that I have not done for anything else but that are up for rewatches for me soon… I would love to check out The Amazing Spider-Man movies again for you, if that would be alright?
